Hello and Welcome
This website is a way to share resources from the Widening Access for Adult Literacies project. Project partners explored ways to make it easier for adults with literacy challenges to access community resources. We worked together to:
- Increase awareness about literacies and literacy challenges.
- Create literacy friendly environments.
- Promote clear language use.
- Integrate support for literacies into community programs.
- Partner to promote and offer literacy programs.
- Find ways to continue to widen access after the project ended.
The Widening Access for Adult Literacies project was based in Northeast Edmonton, Alberta, and was sponsored by The Learning Centre Literacy Association and The Candora Society of Edmonton. Many of the project activities are continuing through the Northeast Edmonton Literacy Network. To learn more about the project:

The Widening Access for Adult Literacies project was funded by the Office of Literacy and Essential Skills, Human Resources Development Canada, in partnership with Alberta Advanced Education and Technology. The Edmonton Community Adult Learning Association funded literacy groups that were offered through the project.
